Domestic Abuse Workplace Champion

Merseyside’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Emily Spurrell, is pleased to host a dedicated training session for Domestic Abuse Workplace Champions, delivered by Amanda Flanagan from Respect Young People’s Service.

This half-day session will focus on Child and Adolescent to Parent Violence and Abuse (CAPVA)—a complex and often hidden form of domestic abuse. Aimed at practitioners and Domestic Abuse Champions, the training will provide a comprehensive overview of CAPVA, including:

  • The dynamics and causal factors behind CAPVA
  • How it may present in families and the associated risk indicators
  • The impact on parents, young people who harm, and other family members
  • Appropriate safeguarding responses across both adult and children’s services

The session is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and confidence to identify and respond to CAPVA effectively in their roles.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from a guest speaker, connect with fellow Champions, and share best practice in a supportive and professional environment.
