Merseyside Domestic Abuse Workplace Scheme Business Event
09:00 - 11:30 | 20.06.25 - Merseyside
Organisations across Merseyside are being urged to take a stand against domestic abuse by joining a pioneering workplace scheme designed to support staff who may be experiencing abuse.
Merseyside’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Emily Spurrell, is hosting a special event this week (Friday 20th June) to showcase the Merseyside Domestic Abuse Workplace Scheme - a powerful initiative that equips organisations with the tools, training and resources to create safe, supportive environments for their employees.
The Commissioner will be joined by the regions’ Metro Mayor, Steve Rotheram and other key partners to highlight the importance of workplace support in breaking the cycle of abuse. The event will bring together employers from across the region to hear how they can join the scheme and will feature a range of speakers, including business leaders who have already implemented the initiative within their organisations.
The Domestic Abuse Workplace Scheme enables employers to have designated members of staff who volunteer to become ‘Workplace Champions’ helping to spot the signs of abuse, offer appropriate support and ensure staff are signposted to specialist services when needed.
With one in four women and one in seven men likely to experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, the workplace can often be the only safe space for those affected.
First launched in 2019 by the Commissioner and the Metro Mayor, the scheme has already made a significant impact with thousands of employees across the region now having access to a trained Workplace Champion.
Employers of all sizes and sectors are encouraged to attend the event and find out how they can get involved. Those who sign up will receive access to training, resources, and ongoing support to implement the scheme within their workplace.
